As the result of international collaboration the article of NIIC researchers Dr. Sc. Alexander V. Virovets and Dr. Eugenia V. Peresypkina is published in Angew. Chem. (IF 13.734).
The η5-P5 cycle of pentaphosphaferrocene molecule was shown for the first time to be able to bind nucleophilic groups NH2−, NMe2−, PH2− and CH2SiMe3− in mild conditions and to form therefore P-N, P-P and P-C chemical bonds, respectively. The resulting anionic complexes [{Cp*Fe(η4-P5)}2N]3−, [Cp*Fe(η4-P5NMe2)]−, [Cp*Fe(η4-P5PH2)]− and [Cp*Fe(η4-P5CH2SiMe3)]− were characterized by X-ray structural analysis and spectroscopy. The η4-P5 cycle loses planarity and possesses the open-envelope geometry. The energetic profiles of the reactions clarify the formation of these products.
