Complexes of Monocationic Group 13 Elements with Pentaphospha- and Pentaarsaferrocene

The weak interactions between Tl+, In+ and Ga+ cations and phosphorous and arsenic atoms of η5-E5 ligands as a part of complexes [Cp*Fe(η5-E5)] (E = P, As) are studied. The 13 subgroup cations were introduced in the reaction as the salts with non-coordinated anions, teflonate [Al{OC(CF3)3}4] or bulkier [FAl{OC6F10(C6F5)}3] falonate. All reaction products were characterized with X-ray structural analysis. For arsenic-containing complexes, a correlation between the size of the anion and the way of the interaction of the cation with η5-As5 cycles was shown. NMR and ESI-MS spectrometry was used to investigate the behavior of the complexes in the solution.
